FurHQ Medium-Pinned Slicker Brush
Made for these coats: Short Double Coats · Medium Plush Double Coats · Wire Coats
The slicker brush is the everyday workhorse of coat care, and the medium-pinned version is built for coats that sit closer to the body. It works across the groom: in Prep, fine angled pins reach through to lift loose hair, smooth the coat, and work out the small tangles before a wash; it comes in for the final stage of the Dry, brushing the coat out as it finishes bone-dry; and in Finish, a final brush-out over the dried coat smooths and settles everything into place. On wire coats it stays on the furnishings only — never the jacket — working alongside the dryer to brush the furnishings out as they dry. Available in two sizes so it fits both your hand and your dog.
Key Benefits
- Right pin length for the job — medium pins suit closer coats, reaching the skin without overreaching past it
- Smooths as it brushes — lifts loose hair and leaves the coat lying neat
- Works the whole groom — brushes out in Prep, comes in for the final stage of the dry, and smooths in Finish
- Two sizes — Small for compact dogs and detail areas, Large to cover more coat per stroke
- In Prep, work in small sections, brushing in the direction of hair growth.
- Use gentle, flicking strokes — let the pins glide, don’t press into the skin.
- Take extra care on tender areas (belly, legs, behind the ears).
- Brush the coat out as it finishes drying — take it all the way to bone-dry, never leave it damp — on wire coats, work the slicker over the furnishings with the dryer, never the jacket.
- In Finish, brush out the dried coat to smooth it, then check your work with the comb from your kit.
- Between full protocol days, regular brush-outs keep the coat tidy — on wire coats, that’s a weekly slicker over the furnishings.
