FurHQ Undercoat Depth Comb
Made for these coats: Short Double Coats · Medium Plush Double Coats · Feathered Long Double Coats
Some coats are simply too thick or too long for a standard comb to handle — that’s where the Undercoat Depth Comb earns its place. Wide-spaced stainless steel teeth move through dense, plush, and feathered coats without dragging, and it works across two steps of the Protocol: in Prep, separate the hair, lift the undercoat, and check for tangles deep in the coat before a wash — it’s also your check after carding — raking out dead, loose undercoat — gliding clean once a zone is properly carded and dragging when there’s more to do; in Finish, run a last pass over the dried coat to confirm it’s open and tangle-free from the skin out. A clean glide means you’re done; a drag means there’s more work to do.
Key Benefits
- Made for volume — wide spacing glides through the thickest, densest coats where a finer comb would stall
- Lifts and separates — opens up plush and feathered coats so you can groom right down to the skin
- Carding check — glides clean once the undercoat is properly carded, drags when there’s more to do
- Prep and Finish — opens and checks the coat before a wash, then confirms it’s clear at the end of the groom
- Built to last — solid stainless steel that holds up to heavy coats
- In Prep, brush and card first, then comb outward from the skin in the direction of growth, working in sections.
- If you hit a tangle, hold the hair above it and ease it apart rather than pulling through.
- In Finish, run a full pass over the dried coat to confirm it’s open and tangle-free throughout — a clean glide means you’re done.
- Between full protocol days, a quick comb-check finds tangles forming deep in the coat before they set into mats.
